The Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana proudly announces winners of the association's 2022 BCA Service Awards sponsored by Katz, Sapper & Miller.

BCA Summit and Gold Medal Awards recognize individuals who exhibit exemplary performance and strong ethics in business dealings. In addition, these individuals made significant contributions to the general advancement of the construction industry and have been involved in local philanthropic organizations.

The Centennial Award honors an emerging leader under age 40 who is active in BCA, showing commitment to leadership in their company, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for citizens of northeast Indiana through involvement in humanitarian groups.

Summit Award Recipient

Joe Kinder

 

Joe Kinder
Retired from FCI Construction

BCA Board President from 1999-2000, a past 17-year Board Member, BCA Education Committee Chair, a member of the BCA Economic Development Committee, and a participant in numerous contract negotiation committees for Carpenters and Laborers are just a few of the ways that Joe has been a significant influence on the local northeast Indiana construction industry.

Passionate about the advancement of the construction industry, Joe has been a presenter for various programs that encourage students to get involved in the trades. From Junior Achievement to the BCA Cornerstone Program and the BCA Construction Career Academy, Joe has played a pivotal role.

Joe is not one to slow down in his retirement. He is the Part-Time assistant to the Funeral Directors at Divine Mercy Funeral Home in Fort Wayne and is active on the Board of the Steuben County YMCA.

Joe chose the Splash Pad Project at the YMCA of Steuben County as the recipient of the $500 donation on his behalf.

In his role as Vice President, Zach enjoys spending his days learning more about key businesses and organizations that make Northeast Indiana great and how MKS can help them plan, design, and build their dreams!

His involvement with the BCA began after returning to NE Indiana in 2006. Zach has actively participated in the Workforce Development and Education Committee for over 15 years and is the current chairperson of the Education Committee.

When he isn't working, Zach likes to spend time with his wife Beth and three wonderful children: Riley, Katelyn, and Connor.

BCA presented a donation of $500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne.

Tom Werling

Thomas Werling
Mosaic Building Solutions

Tom started his construction career at the Anthis Career Center 25 years ago and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Building Construction Management.

During his career in the construction industry, Tom worked at Hagerman Construction for 17 years in various estimating and project management roles. Currently, Tom is the Vice President at Mosaic Building Solutions.

Tom was a founding member of the BCA Young Professionals Forum and the chairperson from 2017-2021. He is also a member of the Government Affairs Committee since 2019.
