Rob Young Retired from The Hagerman Group
Rob Young has more than 25 years of economic development, construction, and private development experience primarily in Michigan and Indiana.
Among the projects Rob has led are site selection efforts for Fort Wayne, IN-based Do it Best Corp. and Phoenix, AZ-based Café Valley Foods. For Do it Best, Rob coordinated a three-state site search for Do it Best’s newest distribution center. Sikeston, Missouri, was selected for that project. For Café Valley Foods, Rob led a similar three-state search for the company’s second manufacturing location. Marion, Indiana, was chosen for the new facility. In Fort Wayne, Rob led the acquisition of the site and put together the basic capital stack for The Bradley, the city’s first boutique hotel.
During his more than eleven years driving business development activities for The Hagerman Group, Rob helped establish Hagerman’s shell (speculative) building program which, to date, has resulted in the completion of seven spec buildings of up to 195,000 SF each.
Rob excels at utilizing public finance tools (tax increment financing, forgivable loans, tax abatements, etc.) to assist projects and create true public-private partnerships.
Rob holds a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University. He earned his MPA while marketing and managing Michigan’s largest industrial park – the 3,000 acre Fort Custer Industrial Park in Battle Creek. His work in Michigan led to Rob being named the founding president of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance in 2000.
